              9. Class III collected `7384 for donation to an

or phanage. The total money to be collected was

`9000. How much money is yet to be collected

                  by the class?

            PROPERTIES OF SUBTRACTION

            1. We cannot change the order of the number in subtraction.

                   For example, 6 + 3 = 3 + 6

                                       But, 6 – 3 is not equal to 3 – 6.

            2. On subtracting a number from itself, we get zero.

                   For example, 4 – 4 = 0 63 – 63 = 0

                                       785 – 785 = 0 4536 – 4536 = 0

            3. On subtracting 0 from a number, we get the number itself.

                   For example, 1125 – 0 = 1125

            ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION TOGETHER

            Example: Solve 6149 3098 2916 – + .

Solution: First we add 6149 and 2916. From the sum we subtract 3098.
