                                  Verbs






            Verbs are words that           show action. They tell us what people, animals and
            things are, what they have, and what they do.


            For example–


                   Kiran’s mother is a teacher. (what the doer is)
            m
                   I was happy to see my grandmother. (what the doer feels and does)
            m

                   I wrote one letter this morning. (what the doer does)
            m
                   I screamed when I saw the lizard. (what the doer says and does)
            m

            Verbs change form according to the number of nouns they tell us about.

            For example– ?
                                       My sister teaches in the school. (Singular noun)
                                       They teach in the school. (Plural noun)
                                  ?


            Kinds of Verbs

            Transitive Verb: A verb that requires an object to make complete sense or

            transit or pass the action from the subject to the object is called a                     transitive

            verb.

                                       He drinks milk.
            For example– ?
                                       I drive a car.
                                  ?

            Intransitive Verb: A verb that does not require an object to make complete

            sense or does not transit or pass the action from the subject to the object is

            called an    intransitive  verb.

            For example–  ?
                                       They laugh.
                                  ?
                                       Birds fly.
