Just as the number line helps us to add, similarly it also helps
us to ‘take away’.
If we want to subtract one number then we jump one step
backward.
If we want to subtract more than one number then we take a
jump backward as per steps of number.
Suppose we want to subtract 3 from 6.
s
First we take a jump forward from 0 to 6.
Then we jump backward 3 steps and reach 3.
s
6 – 3 = 3
