4 , 7 , 6 , 9 ,
10 10 10 10
6. Write the following fraction in descending order:
×2 ×4 ×5
1 2 3
(a) (b) (c)
4 3 7
×2 ×4 ×5
7. Add the fraction:
2 3 2 4 5 7
(a) + = (b) + = (c) + =
7 7 9 9 12 12
8. Subtract the fraction:
7 5 7 5 7 3
(a) – = (b) – = (c) – =

MATHS LAB
Objective: To understand the unlike fractions by paper folding and comparing
them.
Things We need: 3 equal strips of paper.
Procedure: (i) Bring the two opposite edges of the first strip. Fold and press it
that a crease is formed. Unfold the paper. The crease has
1
divided the strip into two equal parts, each
2
(ii) Fold the second strip into one half as above. Fold the folded
striponce more so the crease overlaps the opposite edge. The
1
paper is divided into four equal parts each by creases.
