Example: Read the pictograph and answer the following questions.
(a) Which fruit did the fruit vendor buy in the least number?
(b) How many bananas did the fruit vendor buy?
(c) How many guavas did the fruit vendor buy.
(d) How many more apples did the vendor buy then mangoes?
Solution: (a) The fruit vendor bought pineapple in the least number
= 1 × 5 =5
(b) The number of bananas the fruit vendor bought = 8 × 5 = 40
(c) The number of guavas the vendor bought = 5 × 5 = 25
(d) The number of more apples than the mangoes bought
= 6 × 5 – 4 × 5 = 30 – 20 = 10
REPRESENTATION OF DATA BY A BAR GRAPH
We can represent data by the different lengths/heights of bars to
show/compare the information at a glance.
For example; 1 can for 1 thing/person 2 can for 2 things/person etc.
Example: The following drink of a group of children are the following.

Draw a bar graph to represent the above data
Solution: We show the drive on the horizontal line (x-axis) and number of
children on the vertical line (Y-axis).
We show 1 unit of height to show 1 child.
