The hour hand of a clock goes around its face in 12 hours.
A day has 24 hours from 12 o’clock midnight to the next 12 o’clock midnight.
The hour hand goes around the face in a day of 24 hours.
The time from midnight to noon is called a.m. (ante meridian) = before noon.
The time from noon to midnight is called p.m. (post meridian) = after noon.
Thus we write 7 o’clock in the morning as 7 a.m.
and 7 o’clock in the evening as 7 p.m.
