When we divide we use the sign ‘ ’ and read it as ‘divide ’.

Division is a repeated subtraction of the same number.

Here, we have divided 6 into 3 groups of 2 each. Now, we

have to subtract 2 repeatedly from 6.

6 – 2 = 4 – 2 = 2 – 2 = 0

We can write it as : 6 ¸2 = 3

Multiplication

Students should learn multiplication table, it helps them in

division process.

Skip Counting

In the beginning of division process, students should make

practice of skip counting. It is easy to understand the

concept of division through skip counting.

Small number can not be divided by a large number.

Zero divided by a number gives zero as answer.
