MATHS LAB

Objective: To find relation between different weights.

Things We need: A weight of 1 kg 2 weights of 500 g each and 10 weights of 100
g each, a scale of two pans

Procedure:(i) Put the weight of 1 kg on the left pan of the scale. Put 2

weights of 500 g each on the right pan. We see that the pointer

in the centre.

So the pans one balanced.

It means 1 kg = 2 × 500 g = 1000 g

(ii) Put the 1 kg weight on the left pan and 5 weights of 200 g each
on the right pan. We see that the pointer is in the centre. So the

pans are balanced.

It means 1 kg = 5 × 200 g = 1000g

(iii) Put the 1 kg weight on the left pan and 10 weights of 100 g
each on the right pan. We see that the pointer is in the centre.

So the pans are balanced.
