Types of Mouse
Mechanical Mouse: A mechanical mouse has a rubber or metal ball on its
underside and it can roll in every direction. There are sensors within the
mouse, which are mechanical, detect the direction in which the ball is moving
and moves the pointer on the screen in the same direction. A mouse pad
should be used under the mouse to run on.
Optical Mouse: An optical mouse is the subsequent development in the
evolution of the technology. The rolling balls and wheels are eliminated in
this version. The beam of light emits from the device which activates the
mouse to offer direction and speed to the cursor. There is no mechanical part
in this type of mouse and therefore the question of interference by dust does
not arise.
Optomechanical Mouse: An optomechanical mouse is a combination of the
optical and the mechanical technologies. It uses a ball but detects the mouse
movement optically. It is now the most commonly used with PC.
